“There were over 17,000 businesses that applied for this grant and to be selected is such an honor,” says RainbowMe Kids Founder Kya Johnson. “Being highlighted on a platform as big as Beyoncé’s is a dream come true and it is a wonderful sign of even greater things to come.’Johnson recently debuted O is for Oshun, RainbowMe’s first augmented reality children’s book to feature fairytale and folklore characters of color. Using a smartphone to hover over the pages in the book, the characters come to life, rising off the pages to tell their stories in their voices, with dialects unique to the region where the characters’ stories take place. But when COVID-19 became a pandemic and states began to shut down, it halted planned in-person events and the company suffered an economic loss. RainbowMe Receives $10,000 Grant from Beyonce's BeyGood Foundation and the NAACP

North Carolina-based RainbowMe Kids, a multi-media entertainment platform for kids ages 4-10 has been named a recipient of a $10,000 grant thanks to Beyoncé and her BeyGOOD foundation in partnership with the NAACP. This partnership created the Black-owned Small Business Impact Fund, and was announced in July to empower and assist small businesses that have been negatively impacted by recent events. The first round of recipients announced on August 18, included 20 Black-owned small businesses, ranging from tennis academies to barbershops.
